flatwater - Canada, Vancouver Island is amazing, see Colin at Island Longboards. Some nice surf too, mainly beachbreaks.
For surf - Sth Taiwan, beaches, points and an amazing uncrowded open reef setup - I surf here every swell, only one other SUP'er in the area, cool bloke.

I have a friend in Vancouver Island so I'm sorely tempted.  Is there a particular spot, or will I find somewhere easily Moonwalker  Huh

For Vancouver Island - hell, miles of beachbreaks near tofino for surf. Also check Qualicum beach area and Nth (I forget the name of the place but Colin knows) - beautiful place for a sunset paddle. You can see all the islands  in the sound.
