Title: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Beardie on September 13, 2009, 05:43:44 PM Don't people think when they meet a guy whose been a regular surfer for years (and I mean YEARS) and they've taken up SUP'ing, that they might think that you're doing it for enjoyment rather than some other more sinister reason ???
No :o Today a young Dude said to me when I was unloading my board, ''Ah, surfing for Oldies - guess I'll have to change to that one day'' I mean yep, the beard's there all right but I'm not ancient - are U ??? Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: shoan on September 13, 2009, 05:46:35 PM Beardie - it was not today but I was asked if once you get to a certain weight, you have to take up SUP ;D :o
Pass me another cream cake will ya? Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: leader on September 14, 2009, 08:00:42 AM A also got the age crap thing from my kids - but now they're laughing on the other side of their faces - my 12 year old is saving up for his first SUP! :o
Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Judezz on September 14, 2009, 03:00:45 PM How about this drivel; http://www.ikitesurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14063 (http://www.ikitesurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14063)
Is it that all kiters are assholes or am I being unfair ??? Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Jeroen on September 14, 2009, 07:47:16 PM I am used to that stuff, I used to longboard on 10'+ boards and the moment i'd be catching the most waves and the longest rides, they'd start verbally abusing me.
I loved that kinda shit, since it was a confirmation that I was doing something right. Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Haggis on September 15, 2009, 05:17:15 PM People say all sorts of weird stuff when they feel threatened. I take it as a compliment when someone gives me a bit o' grief :D
Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: DaveG on September 16, 2009, 08:09:16 AM Haggis - you actually go paddle in that atire ??? If you do, reeeeespppeeeeccccttt ;)
Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Haggis on September 23, 2009, 06:44:56 PM Don't mean to disappoint, but the guy in the photo is not really me :-\ I'm much uglier than that.
The guy that used to give me the most shite is now a paddle boarder himself; what does that say about it ??? When he did used to give me abuse, my reply was always ''I got nothing but looooove for you Bro'' It used to wind him up so much; now he paddles close to me and we get along fine :) Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: Graeme222 on October 03, 2009, 05:22:53 PM Not so much anti-sup shite but maybe an advertizer's wit ??? :-\ ...... The new Ryobi advert features a surfer having cut an SUP board up - picture courtesy of member Brucex on www.seabreeze.com/au (http://www.seabreeze.com/au)

Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: DaveG on October 06, 2009, 10:33:14 AM It's quite funny, but what's the big deal about the 'war' ??? Is it that we have an advantage with the paddle (they imagine) or that we can see the waves coming long before they do ;D
Title: Re: What anti-SUP shite did you hear today? Post by: El_Duderino on October 06, 2009, 01:08:38 PM I can't really understand that kind of crap. Before I took up the SUP, I often surfed alongside a guy who was on one. He'd let us all know when a set was coming, he'd even tell us which wave on the set looked worth the paddle. Most of this is just bullshit and someone wanting to create a problem that doesn't exist in the first place.
Mind you, the video of Gareth charging through the line up in Noosa doesn't really help the cause :-\ |
